Patapum Baby Carrier and Patapum Toddler Carrier

Freedom, style, and comfort...Patapum's baby and toddler carriers allow you to continue shopping, walking, hiking or doing the housework while being hugged by the person you love the most... Your baby.

The Patapum is a soft structured carrier that makes babywearing a breeze. The soft, wide, padded hip belt supports your baby's weight at your hips, while the wide, padded shoulder straps ease the burden on your shoulders. The Patapum's ergonomic design helps support a good sitting position for baby, which is essential to proper hip, pelvis, and spine growth and development - baby's weight is supported by their hips and thighs, not focused on the base of their spine as happens when dangling from their crotch as in many commercial carriers. The Patapum also distributes baby's weight to the wearer's hips and shoulders, helping keep mom or dad in alignment, as well!

So many people prefer to carry their babies snug and close in a wrap, pouch, or Asian carrier while they're little, and then switch to a more cushioned, structured backpack carrier as their babies get older and heavier. In my opinion, the Patapum toddler is superior over other similar structured carriers for this, because of the extra support features it offers for heavier toddlers. No matter the age or weight of your baby, though, if you're in the market for a more structured carrier than a wrap or Asian type carrier, the Patapum is, in my opinion, a superior choice.

What are the differences between the two sizes?

  • In the toddler carrier, the shoulder straps are attached to the hip belt, distributing weight very efficiently.
  • Side straps in the toddler carrier give back support to the toddler keeping him close to the center of gravity.
  • The baby carrier's body is smaller so as to not overwhelm a smaller baby.

What are the differences between Patapum carriers and other similar carriers?

  • A Patapum is specialized, which means that the toddler carrier in particular is much better suited to carrying toddlers than many other structured carriers.
  • The Patapum toddler carrier can safely carry babies up to 62 lbs - many other structured carriers have a limit of 40 lbs.
  • The Patapum has the niftiest feature - the tuck-away waist belt. when your child is not in the carrier, it tucks and rolls away, then snaps onto itself to create a clever little package the looks a lot like a fanny pack. Most other carriers have no good options for what to do with the carrier when your child is not in it. This tuckaway feature also enables the carrier to snap into a neat little package when not in use, so it stays compact and untangled in your bag, car, or drawer.
  • The carrier is incredibly lightweight and compact. I was surprised when I first received mine at its light weight and compact size in comparison to the other structured carriers I own. It could easily fit into a diaper bag, unlike any of the other structured carriers I own.
  • The all-cotton sleeping hood is easily adjustable with cord locks, rather than snaps or velcro. Easier, and silent as well.
  • The waist strap fits me comfortably (I have a 25 inch waist) and I have found no other commercially available carriers that will fit me snugly.
  • The waist strap will fit up to 55 inches - many other structured carriers do not adjust that large. (This means my husband can wear it, too!)
  • The Patapum comes standard with a stylish little waist pack, perfect to hold a few essentials so you can ditch the diaper bag!
  • There is a great attention to detail with this carrier. You'll have no dangling strap ends, for example, as each strap comes with a little elastic loop to keep those straps under control.
